Regretfully what had been an excellent McKeesport Alumni forum is not included with the list of links in the right side column. It became a site dominated by biased political postings. We get enough political bias thrown at us with everything we view without being confronted with it when seeking out McKeesport family, alumni and friends. If the owner of that forum removes and actively prevents the politics from being a part of their forum format I will once again include it in the list.

Changes in the works. And so it grows - bye bye Eastland

This temporary experimental Blog is undergoing changes.

As usual I start something and before I can blink my eyes it gets all out of control. This temporary Blog began as an experiment with me trying out a slide-show widget.

I had a difficult time sleeping last night/this morning because all the bits and pieces of McKeesport history that I found on the net kept popping into my mind. Something kept telling me that it all needs to be assembled in one spot if anything but just a few pictures and pages of links for people to follow.

So like chewing on live octopus for the first time this blog will grow and grow and may end up a regurgitated mess. Jason Togyer I blame you. If you had not posted a link to this site on your Tube City Almanac blog I would have just experimented and let it go. But once I saw there were a couple hundred hits in a very short time frame those nasty thoughts woke me up this morning. The last thing I need in my life is to try to be a data collector depositing transit factoids in random order.

Instead of backing off everything and let dust bury the keyboard I will be hurting your sense of proper grammer and spelling. Anyone out there with suggestions I'll come up with a link where you may contact me. This is NOT going to be a proper documentary exercise but the mindless wanderings of an O.F. My health will not let me do much more than that anyway so check in once in a while to see additions, changes and to see if I am still on the green side of the lawn.

I am one of those that firmly believes unused old buildings should be torn down damn with history and fond memories. I was driving around on my copy of Google Earth checking out the McKeesport area and discovered they updated the image for the Eastland Mall. So here it is or at least the footprints of the buildings.
