Old Maps Of McKeesport

Legend for the 1900 maps
All maps with color are from 1900

 1876 Land survey map

1876 street map of the Borough of McKeesport
If you examine this 1876 street map closely it should look strange to you. The street name are different in several places.  Versailles Ave and more are not where we know them. You will see Versailles Ave, on here, runs vertically. So there have been many changes.  On here it is labeled 10th Ave and note it runs almost to the river.  And notice that there is no National Tube Works.  There were a number of major changes and construction between 1876 and 1900 in McKeesport.

This one below shows where Huey runs into Versailles-NOTE-Jones St later became Madison

The main downtown area including Ringold bus station between Sinclair and Locust streets.
***NOTE-Back then Lysle was called Jerome Ave.
I wonder if the White Opera House had operas or Nickelodeons?

The lines running on many of the streets and labeled Electric RR represent the old electric trolley lines.  Great non-poluting and cheap reliable transportation.
